Privacy Policy
Clips is built by Blossomn. The short version: Clips has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. We never see your clipboard, because it never reaches us.
The short version
- We collect no personal data and operate no servers that store your content.
- Your clipboard history, snippets, and categories live on your device.
- If you enable sync, your data flows through your own private iCloud — never through Blossomn.
- No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
1. Who we are
Clips ("the App") is a clipboard history manager and snippet tool for macOS and iOS, developed and published by Blossomn ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information. By using Clips, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect your personal information. Clips has no user accounts and does not require you to sign in or provide any details to us. Specifically:
- We do not collect personal information.
- We do not use analytics, telemetry, advertising, or crash-reporting services.
- We do not use any third-party SDKs.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not operate servers that receive or store your clipboard content.
3. Data the App stores on your device
To do its job, Clips stores the following locally on your device in a private database:
- Clipboard history — the text, images, and files you copy, so you can recall them later.
- Snippets — the shortcuts and expansions you create.
- Categories, pins, and preferences — your organization and settings.
- Optional screenshots — if you enable screenshot capture, captured images are saved to disk on your device.
This data stays on your device unless you turn on iCloud sync (see Section 4). You can delete any item, or clear your entire history, at any time from within the App.
4. iCloud sync
Clips can keep your history, snippets, and categories in sync across your own Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit, stored in your personal iCloud account's private database. This means:
- Your synced data is associated with your Apple ID and stored in your iCloud — not on Blossomn's servers. We have no access to it.
- Apple encrypts iCloud data in transit and at rest, and governs it under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- You can turn sync off at any time in the App's Settings to keep everything local-only.
5. Secret and password handling
Clips makes a best-effort attempt to detect content copied from password managers and other secret sources and to leave it out of your history. Because detection is heuristic, it cannot be guaranteed to catch every case. You can also add any app to an exclusion list, and Clips will not capture anything copied from that app.
6. System permissions
- Accessibility — used only to paste a selected item back into your active app (auto-paste). It is not used to read or transmit anything.
- Clipboard access — used to capture what you copy, on your device, so it can be saved to your history.
These permissions operate entirely on your device. No data gathered through them is sent to us.
7. How we use information
Because we do not receive your data, we do not use it for anything. The data the App stores on your device is used solely to provide Clips' features to you — recalling, searching, organizing, and pasting what you copy.
8. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information, because we do not collect or possess it. The only data flow that leaves your device is the optional iCloud sync described in Section 4, which goes to your own iCloud account under your control.
9. Data retention & deletion
You control retention. Clipboard items remain on your device until you delete them or they age out per your settings. To delete everything: clear your history in the App, disable iCloud sync, and/or delete the App. Deleting synced data on one device removes it from your iCloud and your other synced devices.
10. Your rights
Privacy laws such as the EU/EEA GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, and India's DPDP Act grant rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because Clips holds no personal data about you and operates no servers, there is nothing for us to access, export, or erase on our side — your data is already entirely in your possession on your device and in your own iCloud, where you can view, edit, export, and delete it directly. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. If you have any questions about your rights, contact us at the address in Section 14.
11. International users
Clips is available worldwide. Since your data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, there is no cross-border transfer of your data to us. Any iCloud storage and transfer is handled by Apple under its own policies.
12. Children's privacy
Clips is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided information in a way that concerns you, contact us and we will assist where we can — though, as noted, we do not receive user data.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised policy at https://clips.blossomn.com/privacy. Your continued use of Clips after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
